A Gentleman in Moscow is the latest novel release from historical fiction author, Amor Towles. The story takes place in Communist Russia where aristocrats are being punished, tortured, and killed. Count Rostov appeared before the Bolsheviks where he is deemed to be an unapologetic aristocrat. However, he takes responsibility for writing a pro-revolution poem. He is sentenced to house arrest at a grand hotel called the Metropol. Rostov lives in an attic space where he watches his country change. When Sofia, the daughter of an old friend, is dropped off with him, he also experiences personal emotional changes.
A Gentleman in Moscow was nominated for the Goodreads Choice Award for Historical Fiction in 2016.
