Description

Who needs mistletoe?

Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that—but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.

Lucas is pretty much a all work and no play since he lost his fiancé and his brother. When he’s tasked with discouraging Molly from taking a case on her own or keeping her safe by his best friend and partner, and Molly’s brother, he does his best. When he finds that Molly is hell bent on taking the case, and that she’s really on to something, he decides to give her her chance and back her up. What he doesn’t expect is the massive attraction he feels or the deeper feelings she awakens in him. This is a terrific dual POV romance with plenty of humorous and spicy moments set in the Heartbreaker Bay universe.

Has there ever been a Heartbreaker Bay novel that I haven’t loved??? NOPE!!! I love this small Bay Area town, with its eclectic inhabitants and their interesting lives. And of course Eddie who lives in the Alley. If you want a small town, romantic comedy series, grab Jill Shalvis’ HBB novels! Each character has their own story but each one blends with the others so you get enough individualism but at the same time, they’re all tied together with characters appearing in other stories.

I LOVED these two together! Molly has always been a favorite of mine in this series, and to see her get the guy she wants was awesome! Lucas was alpha and tough, but when it came to Molly he mixed it with a bit of sweetness. The banter between the two had me laughing, and I loved most of the secondary characters and catching up with the previous couples. A fantastic addition to this series that I would definitely recommend!!!

I love all the hashtag chapter titles in this series. Hot Winter Nights had some hilarious elf hashtags, thank you Jill Shalvis for the laughs. This series just keeps getting better and better. Molly and Lucas have both experienced heartache from losing loved ones. Both have closed themselves off and are not looking for love, but the fountain has other plans for them. Strong, independent, and caring characters are Shalvis trademarks, along with very funny and very hot scenes. I was able to reread the entire series before this one came out and loved each book more the second time around. Best humorous quote “Did you just . . . put the elf on the shelf?”

Another great read in the Heartbreaker Bay series. Molly and Lucas are thrown together to figure out what’s going on at the Christmas village where Molly’s neighbors work. Some drama, some humor, and a good romance balance. The descriptions of the elf costumes is hilarious. Stand alone that is part of a series. Highly recommended reading.

Whenever I want a satisfying read, one of my go to authors is Jill Shalvis. I think that I have read every book that she’s written and have never been disappointed. I was not disappointed with Molly and Lucas’ story. I think their story is one of my favorites. I like that Lucas saw Molly and her abilities when others like Joe and Archer couldn’t or wouldn’t. Even though his protective instincts came out, he let her handle the situation herself (at least, most of the time). His family came as a surprise, as most of the alpha heros are loners. All I can say is that if you haven’t read any of Jill’s books, then you are missing out on wonderful, witty, and loving characters.
  • Love Molly & Lucas and friends!

Molly and Lucas both work for Hunt Investigations with Molly in the office and Lucas as an investigator. Molly’s older neighbors come to her with concerns about the Christmas Village where they work and are not being paid as expected but Hunt Investigations will not take the case. Molly decides to look into it on her own. Lucas, while watching over her, also helps her to investigate. Jill Shalvis has created in depth characters in Molly and Lucas. They each seem to be fighting their own demons as they spend time together both on and off the case. This books begins and ends with humorous situations. I fell in love with their entire group of friends and got so much enjoyment from this book. Congrats to Ms Shalvis on her latest 5 star read.
