I was excited to read Caitlin and Jonas' story after meeting them in the first book in this series but I'm not sure this book lived up to my expectations. Caitlin is a commitment-phobe. She's the one ends things when Jonas says that he wants more. This is where things started to get disappointing for me. She, who admittedly dates around and has no shame about this (as she shouldn't), doesn't pursue anyone else during the six months between her ending things with Jonas and starting to use the app. But Jonas, who was so in love with her that he couldn't keep going in this arrangement, was already dating someone else before things even ended and stayed with that woman for the entire six months they were apart. Disappointment amplified. These characters are connected to the ones in the first book in this series but there still seems to be zero overlap with the characters from book 2. I'm so confused about how that book fits in this series. I usually love books by this author. This one was ok but just missed the mark for me.

I'm a big fan of guy chasing girl stories and I thought we would see a lot of that based off the book description. Instead this was more of a story about Caitlin coming into her own. Caitlin is the heroine that's afraid of commitment. Her and Jonas has had a friends with benefits relationship for 2 years, until Jonas ruins it by asking for more from her. As much as Jonas loves Caitlin, he knows he needs to moves on when she refuses to date him. As much as I really liked these characters, this just had too much relationship angst for me to enjoy it to the fullest. I hated seeing Jonas dating someone else after Caitlin even knowing he tried with Caitlin and she turned him down. I don't easily relate to heroines who have commitment problems so it was not easy for me to understand her reasoning of letting Jonas slip through her fingers. What I did like was that it didn't take her long to realize she made a mistake. The only problem was Jonas was already dating someone else. Caitlin realizes she needed to put herself out there so she accepts her boss's request to beta test his new dating app for 28 days. This is more of what the book was about. We see her dating all these men who just couldn't compare to Jonas. Little does she know, Jonas has already realized his new girlfriend doesn't compare to her and has ended things. This is purely a personal preference but I just wanted more of this couple together and less the struggle of them finding their way back together. I did really love the ending and that epilogue was incredibly sweet.
