If you love sexual pleasure, this one is for you! I swear, I am not used to this kind of stuff, but I was drawn in immediately! I am a 23 year old male, so this is very new to me, but still! I love this book! There’s something about the literary concept, that drives me crazy, I can’t stop reading!

Although, this book has a great story line, I found it to very difficult to get into. I struggled to finish the book. I did enjoy how EL James developed the characters, but that’s about it. Maybe the next book will be better …

The book that started it all! Must read!
  • Who edited this?

I am palm twitchingly appalled that the editor of this “series” let this go to print. Is this the sign of the dumbing down of America? I gave this a shot thinking, there is no way these books are as terrible as I’ve heard. I was wrong. So wrong. You’ll learn quickly that the author has a penchant for repetition. Every character is “taciturn”, Christian “cocks his head”, Anastasia “bites her lip”, Christian is “mercurial” and “JEEZ, OH MY! Like sooo hot and bossy!”. My subconscious just dropped an anvil on my head for spending money on this crap whilst my inner goddess (double back handspring+layout) taunts me, “muahaha! told ya so!”. I remember writing fantasy stories in middle school about my crushes, this book makes my prepubescent writing seem like War and Peace. If you’re a lit nerd like me, you might enjoy reading this while thinking of all the ways this story could’ve been improved, from one “laters, baby” to the next “we aim to please”. And if you are reading this, just a tip: there’s a whole world of erotic and romantic literature that is well written and engaging. This ain’t it, sis.

I am in tears right now! The story has ended and I feel as I have been wounded! I have never in my life read a book after seeing the movie that has caused me so many different bouts of emotions! I became the a part of the story and I could not put it down, I even watched the movie again, but the book had me more attentive! Thank you!
