Description

“Full of emotional angst, scorching love scenes, and a compelling storyline.”—Dear Author

THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness…

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires.
The bonds of his love transformed me, even as i prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

Well, it’s better than Fifty Shades. Parts of it (I should clarify, I didn’t care for FS either). His character is so much like Christian Grey, I was cringing. It starts, you learn she’s beautiful, you learn he’s gorgeous, they collide, bam...they’re in a relationship, bam...they’re hooking up, bam...they’re troubled and in a toxic relationship. It’s a well written cliche. I love a good smutty book—this has good smut—but there’s SO MUCH of it! It’s every page! It takes away from the fact that there’s a story in there too. I’m also not a huge fan of books that end with absolutely no resolve and basically force you into reading the second book. I honestly believed that there would be more to end the last paragraph I read, but then realized it was the end of the chapter, then came to realize it was the end of the book. It just...ends. If all you want to read is sex, this is your book. If you want a plot, perhaps we will find it in the next four. Hopefully.

Although quite similar to the 50 shades series, this book is very very good. It’s similar but just borderline enough that it’s not alike. Very different visuals but some things are the same. Overall a great love story with vivid wording that really gives the full effect of the book. Didn’t care for how fast the writer moved on in certain situations without really getting into the anger during arguments but I’m still going to give this 5 stars. I absolutely loved it. Very hard second place after 50 shades!

My aunt recommended the book to me in Jan and I was instantly hooked on it, finishing in 4 hours. It was that good! I love the main characters. So intense and raw. On my way to read the second one!

If there ever a book that I wish were a movie or mini series, would be this story. The sex and flare keep you hot and wanting, but the rawness of the storyline makes this so much more. Unlike 50 shades, which in my opinion is a bit too unrealistic (virgin girl without a trouble in the world, lands a billionaire BDSM with a troubled past), this story takes two souls, regardless of wealth stature (although it is present and helpful) ravaged by pain and betrayal that only the other can acknowledge, feel, and ultimately heal. To think that it’s possible if two people could feel that deeply and raw about each other would be amazing. Love this series, please make a movie. I would never stop watching it!
